Photos... lots of photos

Another Horrible Hundred is in the books!  It was a fabulous day - perfect for a ride!  But now the hard work comes for me.  I took 5,806 photos & Christian took 2,166.  That is almost 8,000 photos!  And I have to go through all of them before uploading them t the website.  I don't want to waste your time looking at anything that did not come out!

Don't let that number scare you.  We were at 5 locations & with 1800 riders pre-registered, that is still not a photo for each rider.  I wish we were able to get a photo of each rider at each location, but it just isn't possible, with the different starting times & routes.

Also, I tend to take multiple photos of riders when I can, particularly on Buckhill.  I post only one photo & move the others to the "extras" file.  Once you find yourself, make sure to check out that file to see if there is another photo of you that you might like better.  Just look for the file numbers just before & after your photo file number.  And of course, if you have any questions, please email me!  LovoPixs@verizon.net

Last night was spent downloading & rotating.  Now, I am getting off & will start to sort.  The plan is to have it all done & begin uploading on Wednesday.  Thanks for your patience!  It will be worth it!!

Finally...

November is here!  It is the perfect time of the year for a bike ride!

The two events I am covering again this year.  First is Ride Without Limits.  November 13th.  36, 63 or 100 miles, benefiting United Cerebral Palsy.

I was unable to shoot their event last year, since there were two events on the same weekend.  I am thrilled to be back with them!  And watch out for my husband, my brother-in-law & my son - riding his first organized ride!!

The second is Horrible Hundred in Clermont.  November 20th.  35, 75 or 100 miles over the mountains of Florida.  Ok, the HUGE hills!  And yes, they are there & they are real!

Unfortunately, Strawberry Century & Hilly Hundred did not happen this year.  It has been a while, but I am very excited to get back out there photographing as you pedal!  Good Luck!

Light at the end of the tunnel!

All of the Sugarloaf photos have been transferred to my FTP site!  They are presently being downloaded onto my computer & it is 63% completed.  Once that is done, I'll sort through them per time, then start uploading them onto the website.  They will be all available this afternoon!

Still going...

So, to make a long story short, the Hospital Hill photos are up.  The Sugarloaf photos are slowly being added, about 500 at a time.  Christian is downloading them to my FTP site.  I then download them onto my computer & then upload them onto the website.  There are 1452 Sugarloaf photos & currently, 964 are up on the website.  So, at the rate we have been going, the rest should be up tomorrow.

Honestly, there has to be a better way.  And I will find it before next year!  Thanks again for your continued patience!

Fast as Possible

Just a quick update as photos are uploading onto my website from this years Horrible Hundred...

I teamed up with Christian McCarthy again this year.  Horrible Hundred is just too big to be done by itself.  I am in Tampa & he is in Apopka.  Last year, we uploaded all his photos onto my laptop, but it took FOREVER!  So, this year, I planned on him just uploading them straight onto my website.  As they say, "the best laid plans of mice & men often go astray."  It did not work.  We both have other jobs complicating the problem even further.

The point is photos from Hospital Hill & (unfortunately) Sugarloaf will be delayed.  They are coming!  I know most of you want that Sugarloaf photo more than the others!  That is understandable, as it is a huge accomplishment.

I will do my best to get them up ASAP, hopefully in a day.  But with tomorrow being Thanksgiving, I am not certain.  Thanks for your patience!  I promise, it will be worth it!

Hilly Hundred Photos are Uploaded!

I have to admit, they are not my best work.  Getting the settings right just as the sun is coming up, but having the camera fast enough to catch cyclist moving can be tricky at time.  Unfortunately, on top of Ramsey Road, they kept coming & coming.  I did not have a chance to adjust much.  So, this is what you get...

But I was hoping for more of this...
... which I got as the sun came up more & more.

Same thing happened on Lake Iola.  I had some amazing shots in that exact location before, covering Ride Without Limits.  But that was later in the day, not at 8:30 in the morning.  The shade was giving me trouble again, but I was able to adjust more, as the cyclist were more spread out by then.  I love this shot because I could hear her coming, laughing all the way down the hill.  She was having a blast!

Of course, my last location was the best.  Lots of sunshine.  Many happy cyclists as they went down their last hill.  I love capturing the downhills, particularly when they get aero.  I was really impressed with how low this guy got!

Unfortunately, I was not able to stay at the last location as long as I wanted, so I did not get as many cyclists as I would have hoped for.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my family was with me...

TJ filling up the water at SAG #2

Matt talking with Manny from UBC, while taking a break from making peanut butter & jelly sandwiches at SAG #2

My youngest, playing video games in the car while I am waiting for the cyclists to come down the hill.

Already looking forward to next year, when my oldest will hopefully will be riding!
